Gavin was brought into Maloney and Maloney in 2001 to complete its Class
Action Team, and to assist Mike Maloney in the Firm's complex litigation
practice.
Interests: Gavin concentrates his practice on class actions in State
and Federal court, representing consumers against big business on a wide variety
of claims, including disputes focusing on overcharges for goods or services,
breaches of contract, negligence, fraud, deceptive trade practices and insurance
matters. He is also actively involved in the prosecution of the Firm's serious
injury, product liability and negligence cases.
Background: Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, on May 22, 1961, and having
lived in Bogota, Colombia, and Quito, Ecuador, before coming to the United
States at the age of thirteen, Gavin speaks both English and Spanish. He
received his bachelor's degree from the University of Houston (B.A., 1984), and
graduated with honors from the University of Texas School of Law (J.D., 1986).
While in law school, Gavin was inducted into the prestigious Order of the
Barristers, and was a mock trial national champion (American Trial Lawyers
Association Mock Trial Competition (1986)).
Admissions: Gavin was admitted to practice in Texas in 1987. He is
admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Western,
Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of Texas, as well as the United States
Courts of Appeal for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits.
